Supporting siblings matters too. There, I said it.
It might be a controversial take, but it shouldn’t be. Siblings are often a neurodivergent child’s first, and sometimes only, consistent source of social connection and support, especially as they grow older.
When a child is neurodivergent, it’s easy for their neurotypical siblings to quietly fall into the background. They might feel confused, overlooked, or unsure how to connect with their brother or sister. And as a parent or clinician, you’re likely doing your best to meet everyone’s needs, but it’s a lot. Growing up with an autistic brother has given me the drive to advocate not only for him, but for the WHOLE family, including siblings.
If you’re:
• Worried your neurotypical child feels left out or overwhelmed
• Unsure how to help them understand what’s going on
• Looking for age-appropriate ways to support their emotional wellbeing
This resource was made for you.
The Sibling Support Resource is a three-part toolkit designed to help families build stronger connections, reduce resentment, and give every child the space and support they deserve.
Here’s what’s inside:
✔️Parent Workbook: Practical guidance to help you navigate the emotional load of parenting both neurodivergent and neurotypical children. Includes communication strategies, scripts for tricky conversations, and a curated appendix of further resources.
✔️ Sibling Workbook and Journal: Created specifically for children growing up alongside neurodivergent siblings. Includes age-appropriate worksheets, reflection prompts, and space to explore feelings in a safe and supported way.
✔️ Picture Book: “We Do Things Differently:” A gentle, beautifully illustrated e-book that helps young children understand autism in a relatable, respectful way. Illustrated by autistic artist Aria Taylor, this story opens the door to empathy and shared understanding.
This resource helps families move from confusion and disconnect to understanding and closeness. It gives parents the tools to hold space for all their children, not just the ones who need the most support.
Because every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood.
